If he is responding to painful stimuli, it is much better than not responding at all.
the rehap for somebody that is not waking up YET is to work his muscles so they dont become stiff or atropied (sp) working the muscles for him will make his return to normal much easier for him when he wakes up.

If they are moving him, its a pretty good sign that they dont have too much concern over him dying at that point. Another good thing.

Still praying for you all right now.

If they respond to painful stimuli, that is a good sign. It essentially means he is not in a deep coma and his chances of a recovery are better. It also shows he does not have paralysis since he has feeling. Make sure they are checking feet for painful stimuli and not just the chest.

Sadly, depending on who is paying for his care, there are restrictions on how long he can be kept somewhere if there is nothing more they can do. I don't mean that he is dying, just that he doesn't require the "critical" care so the "payor" (insurance company, etc) will not allow the patient to remain. The next logical step would be a rehab facility or nursing home (depending on what his needs/expectations are) that can see to his needs.

Only PID I know is Pelvic Inflamatory Disease, and I don't think he has that. I'm not sure what you are referring to here. Could it be diabetic neuropathy? Anyway, when they check his feet, they will just pinch the top or run a ink pen down the bottom to see if he has reflexes.
