So, how was your weekend?

One week in ABQ, 4 straight days of riding. One day of ENDLESS whoops, 3 days of single track, uphill, downhill, sidehill, over hill, under hill, around hill, hippie commune in the middle of nowhere, KX250, KX500, sand, sand and more sand which I suck at, glorious wide open stretches for MILES. Did I mention the views?

2 'fall overs' too slow in the sand, , one respectable fly over the handle bars crash JUST short of some nasty cactus (in the sand), Lottaburger, green chile sauce, lack of oxygen, stunning scenery, bone dry sinuses, junipers, cookouts (chicken takes forever at altitude) uncountable beers, downtown ABQ, Sandia peak (NO oxygen!!!) hike in the snow, did I mention the views?

Oh yeah. End of day three. Running from the tribal po po. Out of the wash, over a hill, across the school parking lot, down a side street, into the river bed, up the arroyo, back home through the back door, hide the bikes, nothing to see here. Totally NOT befitting my position as father, husband, business man, upstanding citizen, lover of cats...

The boys told me later it was up to a grand and they take your bikes. Nation unto themselves. They make their own rules.

Yeah, I had a great ####ing time!!!

They were in a car waiting at the end of the wash on the road. I never saw them. Lead guy comes roaring back around the bend circling his left hand emphatically so, I slammed on the breaks and followed #2 man. #1 disappeared running decoy as the best rider while #2 babysat me up, around and away.

I like ABQ. I've been up the Sandia; you're correct, there's not O2 up there. 20 minutes of walking got me out of breath.

What kind of trip was this? You have some friends out there, or was it an organized MX touristy type thing?

Best friend lives in ABQ, his baby bro lives up in Pojoaque. Kind of trip you just can't buy.

Funny you mention it, though. We did discuss, baby bro and I, him setting up exactly that; MX tours. Provide the bikes. Test and rate each rider, choose the appropriate bike and loops, cook out and beer at end of day.
