| 2013 Honda Gold Wing... ...the answer to a question nobody asked??? Yuck. I mean that as nicely as possible. YUCK. Come on, people, seriously, do we need a luxury tourer, THE luxury tourer, chopped down to a luxury cruiser??? Really? In case you haven't seen this crime against all bikedom, they took off the tour pak, plopped on a little back rest for the passenger, added a chopped little windshield and smoothed up the fairing a bit. Why? I've been spending the last 6 months starting to come around to the reality that a Wing is, naturally in my aging future; a bike that has all the agility and power I like in a package made for guys with failing parts; hips, shoulders, backs, that are done with highway blast and helmet buffeting and really don't need 'potato' anymore. Supposedly, it is going after the Road glide custom market, a Road glide absent tour pak (and lowers if you're really keeping score) and EVERY guy I know with one wants a tour pak. This is like New Coke. Gold Wing is THE Gold standard. It's not like 'a Harley' where it could mean many different, very different types of bikes. It's not a BMW which also can mean quite a few things. When you say Gold Wing, that's IT. Everyone knows what it is and acknowledges it for being the one and the only. It is, of course, not for everyone but, man, how many brands can say "We are Gold Wing" and EVERYONE knows what it is and that is is THE best in it's class??? Now, people will ask 'which one?'. Why would ANYONE think that is a good idea? I don't get it.   desertrat likes this.
