Been there and had to do that. It scraped, but held on to the road. If the bike had been higher off the road, I really couldn't have leaned anymore than I did. Wouldn't want a bike I couldn't put in a turn as much as I had to turn. Even so, if I want to ride, I've got to have a machine I can put my feet on the ground and use the way I need to use it.

Not a great pic, and it really doesn't look that impressive, but much lower and the lower saddle bags would have been dragging...

Can't argue with that!

Friend of mine drags his pipes on his Ultra just about every turn....he's ground away quite a bit of them

He says if you are causing sparks to fly, you aren't doing it right

Certainly won't claim big touring bikes are the equal because they are not but, I was shocked the first couple times I road FLHTCU's just how far, and readily, those beasts would get over. Same with my Strat. I actually need to change the crash bar because I hit it too often. It's the wrong shape, never mind what the manufacturing says and THAT is not a good feeling when it hits.

I belong on an adventure bike because I'll go pretty much anywhere, fire trails, gravel, dirt roads, crap roads, and have done so on the Strat. But, I like a big bike, the down in it feel, all the bags, trunk, V twin, etc.

More bikes is the obvious answer!

Try and catch a Ride Like a Pro demonstration. They do tighter turns on the big baggers then we do on 250's during the safety classes

Maybe I need to get a copy of that and watch it. I'd like to be able to drag a knee in a really tight turn at 80 on my '47 without drifting out too much.
