Thumbs down Premonition

View the trailer...

Premonition, now on DVD, is not as awful as the reviews (a 29 on Metacritic!) say, but it's not great either. From a technical standpoint, it's extremely well-made. I especially dug composer Klaus Badelt's layered musical score and the creepy atmosphere it gave the film. Also, the acting was proficient across-the-board (though only Sandra and Julian McMahon's roles were fleshed-out to any significant degree). But the screenplay was poor, overflowing with plot holes and contrivances. And the ending was flat-out maudlin.

All in all, it was watchable and well-crafted, but to what the end? The core element, the screenplay, didn't respect the intelligence of the viewers, rendering everything else delicious dressing for a salad of mealy tomatoes and lettuce.

This movie was recommended by a friend.... Horrible to say the least! Slow and pointless! I was very disappointed

It was definitely a bit slow.

And I found it hilarious how the priest Sandra's character visits just *happens* to have a collection of stories (were they newspaper clippings? lol) detailing premonitions throughout history. How convenient for her. lol
