That's what I mean. It was marketed as a scary movie, and that's not what it is. It was a social commentary, if anything.

I don't think I have seen any of his other movies. I don't go to them often at all. Heck, I hardly have time to watch TV.

Movies used to be my thing, so I'd make a point to see the ones that interested me. Now I try to make time to at least Netflix them.

that stupid movie, The Grudge creeps me out: I don't know why. A lot of ppl thought it was dumb, but when you hear that noise in your own attic, you're like.. stupid old house... creaking rafters n such. lol

I refuse to watch the Exorcist or Amityville Horror movies either.

I have to agree with you here. I HATE that movie. To this day I can't even watch previews for it. :shudder:

Case in point, at age 7 I first watched Invaders From Mars on the old black and white and I can still to this day relive how frightened I was after watching that flick. Much later in life it was Night of the Living Dead with it’s over the top graphic Zombie scenes for that day made me for weeks after not want to go outside at night. Much older and a little wiser, I was lucky enough to watch the Exorcist in downtown DC when it first opened and can recall the amount of anxiety and tension in the sold out theater that it effected you in ways no other film had. I recall constantly reminding myself that this is not real and just a film. And I suppose the last film that truly scared me is the original Alien movie with the creature busting from the gut made everyone look at each other and go OMG. So the point my young Padawan is no single movie can be rated as the scariest but intimately linked in that period of time in your life when first viewed and factors such as maturity, emotional state and intellectual development all play a roll. Satisfied with myself that these words actually came out of my mouth and the satisfied look on my kids face that Dad came thru on this one I promptly ordered the table cleared, followed by the getting ready for bed drill so as she wouldn’t have an opportunity for any immediate follow-up questions.
And for all that care, I slept well that night

OK. Now that you know mine what was the scariest movie(s) you ever saw?

Alien - saw it when i was .... 8 or 9, got scared when the facehugger came out of the egg, but when the chestbuster came out of Kanes chest i turned around, in the movie theatre, and watched the Exit sign the rest of the movie.

I wasnt until i was 18 or so before i actually watched the full movie, i even saw Aliens, when i was 16 or so, before i watched the entire Alien movie.

I was 23 sitting in that theater and it sort of freaked me out so you being 8 or 9 I can understand your reponse at that young an age. At the risk of being judgmental, maybe it was poor judgment on your parents part to let you see it. Similarly I was in line to see Starship Troopers and next to me was this Dad with his 7 or 8 yo son and thought about enlightning Dad that this movie was way to intense and graphic but kept to those ideas to myself. Looking back I do have some regrets not at least talking to the Dad.
