Children's movies..I thought it was safe..

When I watch a movie..9/10 times I will pick a comedy or children's movie..why? Because life is sad enough without adding to it. I don't watch dog movies..because the dog is usually beat or killed, or both. I made the mistake of watching My Dog Skip a few years ago...broke my no dog movie rule because it looked cute. WRONG. the fricken dog dies not once...but twice. cried my eyes out. NEVER again.

So, I try to screen my movies more carefully now. So I bought Up at walmart the other day...looked very cute. Had a dog in it but animated dogs are usually safe..and that adorable little asian looking boyscout kid. Boy was I wrong. WHY WHY WHY is that a movie for children?? within the first 20 minutes of the movie I was sobbing and SO was laughing his butt off and considering sending me to the funny farm. IT IS SAD. dreadfully sad. Then the little boy comes and it is cute and funny...then sad again. Do not watch it.

that is all.

You should get Old Yeller.

It's a nice safe Disney flick

You sound like my 7th grade english teacher who complained that the Disney movie Black Cauldron was satanic.

How does the dog die twice? I thought cats were the ones with 9 lives.

Lib, I see nothing wrong with children getting exposed to people and animals dying in a story/movie. Dying is a part of life and it provides an opportunity to expose them to death and for you to discuss it with them should they initiate concern or questions. It is much better to begin the exposure and dialog with a cartoon than to have their first exposure be with a person or pet that is near and dear to their heart.

This thread isn't about a child's reaction

Good point, most children can deal with it. Good thing children's movies are made for the child audience and not overly sensitive adults.
