Monster's Ball thread

why is it closed?

I seemed to have missed all the fun. :razz2:

Well.... I'll respond here I guess

In response to the the original "Monster's Ball" thread...
TT: you repeatedly mentioned "Fat people are lazy"...

If you can't stand fat people for being fat... then,
Can you stand smokers for smoking?
Can you stand drinkers for drinking?
I could go on and on...
There are several things that are bad for your health... and an unhealthy diet being one of them. Can you stand not-so-overweight people who indulge in unhealthy diets? Is it the unhealthiness that bothers you or just the fatness itself that bothers you?

You already stated that some people have a genetic problem w/ obesity. Being aware that some of it is genetic, are you not discriminating them for what they were born into? It may not be so simple as you see it...as just pure laziness. People have different metabolisms. I am skinny not because I watch my diet...but I have an excellent metabolism. I eat all kinda unhealthy and fatty foods all the time. Plus, there are plenty of skinny people who are lazy. Do you have a problem with fat people because U THINK they are lazy...or do u just have a problem with fat people just because they are fat and you find that to be repulsive??? If it's laziness u dislike, I don't understand how laziness is purely restricted to overweight people.

Some overweight people don't mind being overweight.
Some do and work very hard to lose those pounds. It's not as easy for some as it may be for others. Some people that are overweight are addicted to food. It's an addiction like many other addictions...like smoking, etc. It may seem like a simple solution to just eat healthier for YOU... it may be a difficult struggle FOR THEM. I think all of us can identify putting an effort to better ourselves...and yes we all do fail from time to time.

Overweight people are not just some "ungodly" creatures that are floating around. They are human beings just like you and I. They have their problems just like you and I.

I understand that you are not perfect and you may have your shallow view points. However, as a Christian...isn't the idea that you repent your sins...and be saved? If you didn't KNOW that you were being shallow by the comments, I would understand. Knowing is half the battle....and if you know that you are shallow and know that is a bad quality (in the eyes of Jesus), why not be a BETTER "Christian" and change your shallow habits??? Otherwise, what makes you different from the "non-Christians" on the site...who say I know I am this way...I know it's bad...but that's just who I am? The "I know it's bad but it's ME" attitude doesn't seem to go with the the Christian views.

That was my two dollars...

Oh...but I got an extra dollar

As far as the movie goes...
I haven't seen the movie yet...but...
Yes, part of the reason they picked Halle Barry to play the role was because she is a fine black woman that can be admired by the white man.
However, if you look at most movies if not all.... whenever there is a woman that is the object of a man's attraction... it's usually a FINE woman... black, white, or purple. That is how the industry is. When it comes to a profession where a woman's physical feautures are displayed, it is highly likely that the woman is attractive. This is true to some degree when it comes to men also... but not nearly as obvious as it is for women....just look at the music videos... unfortunately, a woman's beauty or lack thereof is still the primary aspect that people see when they see a woman.

Even without having seen the movie... from all the reviews I have heard about the "Porno scene"... I have no doubt that Halle Barry received her award for the "porno" than her acting capabilites... Of course, one could say that the "porno" is part of her acting capabliities...

In any case, I look forward to seeing the movie...

I'm outta dollar bills!!
