I've been seeing the ad for about a week now and still not sure what to think about it.

It's "Die Hard" in the White House. I guess Bruce Willis was busy.

To use a phrase that my kids used to use...

Well, duh!

Getting a lot more overt about it, too!

What Hollywood is trying to do is play to the unity message. Morgan's line in the ads I've seen "America comes together when we're tested". Message; "Get behind The Obama! Our Obama! We're all American's!! We are in this together!"

Will we ever get back to a time where we can just enjoy something without having to bring political BS into it?

Any medium is, or has, the potential to be propaganda. Posters, radio, movies, song, speech. I've been sensitive to it for most of my life I guess because I was always a war buff and Hitler intrigued me and terrified me so much and his propaganda machine was so studied.

And then, it happened; He wasn't, obviously, the only one using propaganda. This is how I grew to despise Woodrow Wilson. To me, if you have to use propaganda, you are LYING to some extent, pushing something that people, reasonably, would not want or agree to. War sure as hell isn't for the peasants who tend to fight, and die, in them.

That's the intellectual challenge; what is and what is not propaganda. Or, more accurately, what is harmless, good, clean fun.

For instance, Days of Thunder, Tom Cruise, is not political, even a little bit but, it is propaganda; a NASCAR promo. That, to me, is harmless. It is to no ones loss to push NASCAR that way.

This new movie, to me, looks like a 'Get behind Obama!" piece. The new Lincoln, sounds very much like a propaganda piece, selling Lincoln as something he absolutely was NOT; an abolitionist. That is BAD propaganda and arguing it is for a good cause, a good message is to then argue lying is good and it's a short step to arguing Hitler's was fine and, of course, it would have been. had he won.

THAT is the terror of propaganda, why ALL lies are bad.

Stone's JFK is a harmful lie. Overt and blatant.

The 'green' movement is so absurd we now have 'green' oil companies and 'green' coal because, well, propaganda works.

Bush used it to sell us on Iraq. Obama uses it to try and get us to trust him when he claims the sun rises in the East.

I guess so.....I shouldn't expect people to be able to think for themselves......I liked Days of Thunder, but still hate nascar. I didn't run out and get a Drive fast go left hat and start chewing....Although damnit if Top Gun and Navy Seals didn't get me.......Tom Cruise and Charlie Sheen are the devil.....

I guess I long for the days of my youth when Bruce and Ben went to that asteroid or Will and Jeff took the Alien shuttle back to the mother ship to save us and that's all it was....not, "That damn Obama is trying to say x, or GW was trying to get us to believe y."
