| Hessian, I've read all of the Narnia chronicles and all of the Harry Potter books. Same Same. I have no idea where you are digging up your "comparisons" but they are far stretch from what is in the books. My kids have been to see Harry Potter and have yet to try and "conjure up spells". Maybe it's just me that has extra intelligent kids, but they seem to understand that conjuring up curses and putting spells on people is pure fantasy.

| You do know that posting about someone's spelling, punctuation or grammar is considered extremely bad taste on-line and a violation of Netiquette. Worse, it's a deflection from the argument to an ad hominem attack. |

| wel thanx penguin and frank, now i du not feal da need to esplain my poor speling. aparrently hucked on fonix did not wurk 4 me. i will apolagise four not spelin your name wright. but i hardly ever capotolze when righting inform.......enfurmal.......informally (not sure how that is spelled). anyway, grow up my spelling may be pathetic but not nearly as pathetic as you are when you are wrong. you remind me of a little kid who storms off yelling something to the effect of "jerkface" when beaten in an argument or game of candyland. As for the movie, I saw it last teusday (that by the way is one of my classic spelling errors :) and it was great. It was very well done and the Quiddich scene was fantastic, I hope to see more in the next few movies.

| Hessien, hey look I captialized, that must mean that I'm right and Daniel's wrong b/c he forgot to capitalize in an informal forum. Wow you've really proved your point on this one. Damn you're right man. i mean Dan can't spell worth sh*t so that must give instant credibility to what you are saying since you have a dictionary sitting in your pocket right next to your picture of Jerry Falwell. You said and I quote: "Oh, and I suppose you believe curses are harmless right? Ask a frustrated adolescent who felt their curse fell flat...what do they do?" Yes well how about the kid who believes in God and sees their mother die after painfully fighting breast cancer for three years? What about the kid who had both parents killed on Spetmeber 11th? What about the kid who is paralyzed the rest of his life b/c he was hit by a drunk driver? Obviouslly since you used the argument that if kids believe in spells and curses and they fail they will be forever tramautized, then we should never believe in anything b/c we might fail. In anything we do, we may fail. We should only do things which we are sure won't fail, by your logic. Therefore, by Modus Tonens (formal logic for you since you tried and talk sh*t about Dan's logic whihc was completly valid by the way) we should never do antyhing or believe in anything. Well good job asswipe, you've just turned the entire world into one big vat of Nihlism. On a side note i thought you might be interested in this one Hessien given your other posts in other forums. The so called "Fag" bill (as you so eloquently put it) which is now in law, yea well teh group that was trying to get enough votes just to put it up to a vote, not even to repeal it, just admitted that they didin't have anywhere near enough signatures. Guess most of the world ain't like you. Thank GOD. I capitalized that one too.

| Good Points "andwhat". Hessian, I must say i do not see the harm in little bobby smith pointing a fake wand at his brother and saying "zibbidy boppidy zerm, turn brother jimmy into a worm" and realizing that he failed. I guess he will think, hmmm magic doesn't work, and continue on with his life completely happy and content with the realization that magic only works in books and movies. Does that mean little Bobby is going to search the net to find better curses to harm his brother. I seriously doubt it. Please show me/us a few examples of kids walking into schools and using whichcraft or blackmagic on anyone. Show us where these kids succeede and killed hundreds, or show us where these kids failed and turned to www.blackmagic.com to find the right spell. In the books they use magic against other kids the same way kids today would use hurtful words such as "nitwit" or maybe an occasional fight. I think the Harry potter books and movie have a deeper focus then kids using magic. That is simply the fantasy world that the story takes place in, the setting for greater lessons to be learned. Harry Potter for example learns at the end of the first book and movie that the love of his mother will in a sense protect him from some of lifes evils. That although she is not with him in a physical sense that she and his father are still watching over him and guiding him in other ways. As a christian I happen to believe in a an afterlife, one that allows ones spirit to watch over the living and in a sense to support those that we care about. harry also learns of good an evil, and good's triumph over evil. It was not magic that won the battle over evil in the books but love and a greater good. Its a story, a tale, a fantasy. By the way what does Rowling not being a christian have to do with it. In your little comparisons you said one was written by a christian the other not. Is that supposed to be a valid point? Also, please point out the satanic symbols used in Harry Potter, I don't see any.

| A child's escape into a fantasy world is a normal healthy release for their minds and only becomes unhealthy when influenced by the negative impact of an adult mind. |

| "The Initiates in a particular [occult] science, having been instructed by fables, enigmas, ALLEGORIES, and hieroglyphics, wrote mysteriously whenever in their works they touched the subject of the Mysteries, and continued to CONCEAL [occult] science under the veil of FICTIONS...When the destruction by Cambyses of many cities, and the ruin of nearly all Egypt...dispersed most of the Priests into Greece and elsewhere, they bore with them their [occult] sciences, which they continued to teach enigmatically, that is to say, ever enveloped in the obscurities of FABLES and hieroglyphics; to the end that the vulgar herd, seeing, might see nothing..." (Albert Pike, "Morals and Dogma", p.365) I will give you an important verse as to why any Christian should not read Harry Potter's books, movies, or let his kids be involved in it. Here it is: ""When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who: * practices witchcraft * is a soothsayer or a sorcerer * interprets omens * conjures spells * is a medium or a spiritist * calls up the dead "For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord…." (Deuteronomy 18:9-13) All "these things" are demonstrated in the Harry Potter books. These stories are every bit as spiritual as Christian literature, but the spiritual power they promote comes from other gods. If you treasure God's truth, may I suggest you encourage your children not to read these books? If you don't treasure God's truth then I have another verse for you: Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, WITCHCRAFT, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
