I saw it didn't like it, more so because it's not my style of movie. I understood it and appreciated it in the way that I did the Last Samurai. I guess I would recommend it on the epic style of tale. Whatever that means.

I mainly enjoyed this due to the visual style. 'Eye candy,' I suppose, is the right term.

Though the acting was decent as well in an over-the-top way.

You cannot compare that to The last samurai. That was the greatest movie ever made. The cinematic aspects of the film are leaps and bounds ahead of anything out right now.

Which one? I half remember The Last Samurai but the concept seemed similar. Fight til the death. Ever since The Matrix a lot of movies have those special effects (even Silent Hill).

I think it's a man thing because the person I saw 300 with couldn't understand why I wasn't pissing on my self at how wonderful the movie was.

I wouldn't put 300 and The Last Samurai in the same category.

The Last Samurai has its fair share of macho action, yes, but it's also emotional and character-driven. I would classify it alongside Braveheart, Gladiator, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

300 just has one purpose: to kick ass as a stylized adrenaline rush. It's, in my opinion, closer to Sin City and Grindhouse.

My husband was the same way. I appreciate the way the movie was made, but it had no dialogue, as noted earlier. It's a man's movie, yelling, killing and boobies....my husband thought it was the greatest (after Transformers) while I only thought it was good.

You didn't feel the emotion between him and his wife and the love he had for his state.
