I've heard that you can get some bad stuff from downloading music like spyware and viruses. Is there any safe sites?

I have been using Kazaa for over a year and have downloaded TONS of tunes. I have NEVER had one problem. No viruses or spyware (that I know of).

There is always a risk of getting a virus. If you are going to download music, you need to make sure your anti-virus software is updated. I have downloaded viruses off of Kazaa before so I’m sure many others have also. Last year, I was looking for some songs by Pink and downloaded some porn pop-up thing by accident. It took me a while to find that program to delete it. In the meantime, I had all sorts of naked people popping up on my screen.

Before you do anything on Kazaa, go to tools, options and change the number of uploads allowed. If you don’t, your system will slow to a crawl if you get too many uploads.

That was easy. IM4Change, What is the uploading part about? The help pages and the accept agreement was more involved than most and there was a few things about my system being accessible that I wasn't too comfortable with. After downloading 4 songs Spybot, adaware and Norton ran clean. What surprises should I look out for?

Thanks Lauren, I did turn it off when I was done and will do the change in "tools". The latest version of Kazaa prevents people from listing your files so that is a little better.
