Thumbs up The U.N. caves in, Bush's plan passed!

Despite strong opposition from the government of Sudan, the rest of the U.N. passed a law drawn up by Western leaders (mainly ... Mr. Bush) to send peacekeepers into Darfur.
UNITED NATIONS - The U.N. Security Council approved a 26,000-strong peacekeeping force for Darfur on Tuesday to try to help end four years of fighting that has killed more than 200,000 people in the conflict-wracked Sudanese region.

The force — the first joint peacekeeping mission by the African Union and the United Nations — will replace the beleaguered 7,000-strong AU force now on the ground in Darfur no later than Dec. 31. The council urged that the AU-U.N. “hybrid” force achieve “full operational capability and force strength as soon as possible thereafter.”

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called it a “historic and unprecedented resolution” that will send “a clear and powerful signal” of the U.N.’s commitment to help to the people of Darfur and the surrounding region “and close this tragic chapter in Sudan’s history.”

Yeah, because those UN peacekeeping missions are always so effective.

Wow the UN is really effective, it only took 4 years to agree to decide to act.

No - they agreed to "try and help".

The US will do most of the heavy lifting, per usual, and will pick up most of the tab, per usual, and the Lefties who cried and screamed over Darfur will call him Hitler and accuse him of trying to take over Sudan and spread US Imperialism.

Don't you just LOVE how that works?
First we have liberals screaming at Bush cause according to them we went into Iraq too fast. Never mind the fact that the UN hit Sadaam with HOW many resolutions over the years to clean up his act and tell the truth?
Now you watch...
Liberals have been screaming 'DARFUR DARFUR WE NEED TO HELP' and Bush goes 'Ok let's help them' and now they'll be like 'NO WAIT UN = BAD and BUSH = EVIL'

Usually, they are multinational forces (meaning, in short, US)

Brace Yourself

All I know is that I like to say "Janjaweed".

Janjaweed.

Janjaweed.

Pretty soon the media will pick up on the term janjaweed and beat it into oblivion.

Then it won't be fun to say any more.

The media won't talk about Sudan at all, not here anyways. More people seem to care about what happens to Lindsay Lohan, and that's what it will be.

There wasn't any mention of this on any of the nightly broadcast "news" programs or on any of the cable nets last night.

It's a HUGE story around the world, just not important enough for our media to cover. They'll continue the way they always have; back to missing blonde white women and celebirties having their meltdown.

I realize this - but I have to say, while I couldn't care less about Lindsay Lohan and intentionally remain ignorant about her - I have only marginally more interest in Darfur. Here is yet another tragedy in Africa that could have been averted by the UN, and it seems they just sat on their hands and wagged their finger at the United States for NOT sending troops.

It's about damned time for the UN to put up or shut up. I'm tired of the world criticizing the US for being the world's policeman, only to cry for our help when it needs one. It's not our job, and it shouldn't be.
