House passes Christmas resolution

Quote:
Representative King (R) LA said he decided to offer the resolution after two similar resolutions earlier this year recognized the importance of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, and Diwali, a festival of importance to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains.
So what did the 9 Democrats who voted against this have a problem with?

Thanks for finding and posting this article. I was listening to a discussion abou this on Foxnews this morning and was stunned to hear the 9 that votesd against this voted 'Yay" for the previous resolutions on Ramadan, the Islamic holy month, and Diwali, a festival of importance to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains.

It made absolutely no sense to me that they would do this.

I agree that there was no reason for any resolutions at all. That being said, how could representatives of a collective public believe they are in a position to pick and chose which major religions to "recognize" or "denounce". It's stupid.

Interesting you equate the importance of religion with the importance of oxygen!

That being said, it is a waste of time, no doubt about that AT ALL. Make one blanket "we support religions" vote (for campaigning sake), then get on with the business of the nation's business.

You'd think maybe their time would be better spent on the overdue budgets.
