A Milestone in Iraq You Won’t See in the Paper

Posted by Chuck Simmins on 28 Dec 2007 | Filed Under These Categories: Iraq, Terrorist Death Watch, War on Terror

Sometime on December 27, 2007, in a fierce gun battle in Al Kut, a milestone was reached.

The 20,000 AIF [Anti Iraqi Forces] terrorist was killed by our troops.

In many ways that anonymous soul typifies the war as it is now being fought. He was a Shia, a member of al-Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr’s Mahdi Army, one of the Shia militias. Number 20,000 was acting in defiance of Sadr’s ceasefire order and was a member of a Special Groups cell. These cells are supplied, trained and armed by Iran.

He was killed by overwhelming firepower, in a futile battle that had no other outcome but loss.

Terrorist Death Watch has all the numbers and the stories behind the numbers.

3,186 American troops have lost their lives in defense of our freedoms and those of the Iraqi people.

If this were refering to a Country that was governed by laws and decency then the law is to provide a fair trial and presents facts and evidence and allow the accused to give a honest defense.

But instead those 20,000 (and certainly far more then that) are just executed on site.

This number is not a representation of law and order but just an occupation force that gives out instant summary judgements and executes the accused person without any due process of law.

It is 20,000 people murdered.

Let me adjust your statistics, because of course the neo-con war hawks are always dumbing down the stats... They are short some 800+ dead Americans.

Military Fatalities: By Time Period

And don't forget the wounded. yes we're not losing as many men as we did in Vietnam, you can thank better armor and medical resources for that, but the wounds are piling up..

Lots of bad guys in the world. Is it worth sacrificing the lives of Americans to get every last one of them?

It would be, if our national security were at stake. We don't have enough blood and treasure to go around and play global policeman for the entire world.

BTW, if you had lost someone in this occupation, you might be asking yourself if it was worth the price they paid, to get rid of a despot who was a manageable threat to the U.S. and by no means an imminent one, and with 87,000 dead Iraqis, leaving Iraq's people worse off than they were under Saddam....

If only you were one of the 3901 dead Americans who died for this waste, I might consider the operation a marginal success.
