I was in 7th grade at Southern Maryland Christian Academy. A boy in class said "What if it exploded." Then it did. He felt awful. That was weird.

I was down in Florida (I lived there) watching the launch with my class. Devastating.

Coast Guard Station Charleston, SC, in the break room watching the launch. Later that week I would be helping in recovery of the wreckage.

I was over at my friend's house watching on TV. I remember the shock of the shuttle just all of a sudden breaking up. It was like watching a movie. My son was 2 1/2 at the time and he spread his hands out and said, "That rocket went pkhyooo!" with an exploding sound.

Very sad.

I was working in the Director's office of the Goddard Space Flight Center. I had met the crew several times. It was awful...the Director knew what had happened before any us (who had gathered in his office to watch the launch)..he collapsed to his knees and wept.

I was in Florida. I was only 5 years old but I remember that we were packing up my grandmothers house because she had passed away. I said "those are funny looking clouds Daddy". I went inside to get my Mom, she was packing up dishes. She turned the TV on and it was on the news.

I was in the lunch room at Immaculata High School in Rockville, and they were talking about it. I had a really hard time, because I had had a dream the the shuttle was going to explode the night before, and had not even known it was supposed to be in Space. I was pretty messed up for awhile, thinking I should have called someone.

I was 9 yrs old, at home that day with some flu-like crud. To this day I can't watch a shuttle launch (or landing, because of Columbia) without being a nervous f**king wreck.
