I am thoroughly pissed by the way the State jumped in to screw our county out of slots.

I have never liked the idea of putting slot machines in race tracks and not placing them in this county where they were from the beginning.

Now some people disagree with that and that's their right, but if any part of the state should get the benefits of the slots it should be where they were taken away from in the beginning.

I am all for turning down the slots in the referendum and running the lotto and Keno out of town just to slap two crooks in the face, Mike Miller and MOM.

Normally I would not care about gambling. If idiots want to toss their money down the drain, who am I to tell them no. But as our state government seems to think they are the only ones who have the right to scam people out of their money, I am all for getting rid of it all.

I have to say that I have played them at a certain non profit organization for the last serveral months. I look at it like this, the machine doesn't ask where my money comes from so why should I care where it goes.

I am sure there is a rental fee and a profit the machine owners make, but heck don't all machine owners IE: ATM's, Jukeboxe's, Pool Table's, Cig machine's ETC make a profit? I have never played at the BR or most of the other places I've heard of. I have played twice at one other place that had them for all of one month but removed them, and at one other place for about 10 minutes one night.

It's my money I say. If I choose to drive down 235 flinging one dollar bills out the window it should be my choice. (wait let me change that to spiking quarters out the window on GMR) However as a 37 year old women I have come to realize that choice in life is marginal these days. We have more rules & regulations than one can digest. Even here. So Eff it all I say and welcome to the new american movement of Big Brother Communism.

The only reason to support slots is to delay the eventual tax hikes needed to pay Pookie's upkeep in Mobtown. Pookie and 'ette can't keep from making more ankle biters and somebody has to pay for their upkeep. I don't want it to be me. Let Pookie contribute to his own upkeep.

It also keeps puts the welfare money straight back into the system. If they're buying lottery, they can't buy as many smokes, booze, drugs, etc.

I was at the BR two weeks ago, and no offense to any one in particular but if those machines took Indepedence cards there would have been a line up Dyson Hill past the church to get in.

When they finally do put in slots, they should accept Independence cards right at the machine.

Same goes for welfare checks, social security, tax refunds, etc. Save people the hassle of cashing their check at the liquor store. It's going to go into the machine anyway, so why not just let them put it straight in?

If we could only be so lucky. The slots they are proposing will be quite a drive away from here. Baltimore, AA county possibly PG. None will be this way though. Of course they will be at state mandated, owned and operated facilities as well. They'll have to stretch the STS routes to be able to get close to any action.
