Those of us who have served in the military perhaps have a different perspective. Not better, just different. Perhaps because we've been in places in conflict we see different outcomes than Saturday armchair generals.

If you don't like the military, don't join. But at least do something useful for society other than whine.

I don't feel I have to "tout" my service; but it seems completely impossible to some of you ungrateful folks that anyone could be so stupid as to serve under this current president and for this war. Nothing but a bunch of cannon fodder. Well, I did (as with many other presidents), and I'm quite proud of it. Not so I can get a pat on the back, but so I can remind myself that there are others that are serving on a much more dangerous capacity than I ever had to and I am infinitely grateful for this. Folks like Fauxrest can only show their disdain for our military. I don’t need him or you or anyone else telling me I haven’t done enough, when it seems the most Fauxrest has done is complain.

The U.S. State Department on Saturday tightened restrictions on embassy staff in Baghdad, ordering all employees to sleep inside reinforced structures and to use only armored vehicles when traveling in the Green Zone due to incoming rocket fire.



Two American citizens have been killed and several wounded by rocket or mortar attacks this week as the heavily fortified area has come under steady fire by suspected Shiite extremists angry over a government crackdown in the southern oil port of Basra.
The announcement came two days after embassy personnel were advised to remain under "hard cover at all times" and required to wear helmets and other protective gear if they ventured outside.
