Iraq returns to Normal

As in the "Situation Normal, All Fkked Up" kind of "Normal"...
Now, that may sound normal to us and we take it for granted, but it is a sign that the surge is working and civil society is beginning to grow. It is a sign normalcy is returning back to Iraq.
-George Dubya Bush, Super Genius, 3/27/08, Dayton Ohio, speaking to the USAF

Areas of Baghdad fall to militias as Iraqi Army falters in Basra

Iraq’s Prime Minister was staring into the abyss today after his operation to crush militia strongholds in Basra stalled, members of his own security forces defected and district after district of his own capital fell to Shia militia gunmen.
With the threat of a civil war looming in the south, Nouri al-Maliki’s police chief in Basra narrowly escaped assassination in the crucial port city, while in Baghdad, the spokesman for the Iraqi side of the US military surge was kidnapped by gunmen and his house burnt to the ground.
Saboteurs also blew up one of Iraq's two main oil pipelines from Basra, cutting at least a third of the exports from the city which provides 80 per cent of government revenue, a clear sign that the militias — who siphon significant sums off the oil smuggling trade — would not stop at mere insurrection.

And, your solution to a small slip while changing of the guard?

Maybe you should write speeches for the president.

The Mahdi army's cease fire was the major reason why the so-called surge was considered a success. Now you see that it wasn't the surge at all that was responsible for any sense of normalcy.

"So-called surge"? Wasn't it a surge?

The cease fire existed, wasn't that a success? And then, things deteriorated when Americans limited their actions in favor of the Iraqis standing up. So, there's a lapse during the change-over.

I missed your solution......

'So called' surge. If there wasn't a surge then the surge couldn't work. If there was a surge, then it failed. Is this your version of heads, I win, tails, you lose?

Read, forestool and get an education. Education can help you overcome your ignorance. Education can't cure stupid, however.

My solution is that we send you, oldGeezer, sillyOps, inbreeder, subaruFreak, badDad, wopHorse, dumbBlonde, gunnNut, GoodLarry, RadioStar, etc. and if you fail, at least you've made the world a better place by removing yourself from society.
