Question for the moment: Ga$ prices?

What sacrafices have you had to make because of the skyrocketing price of gas prices?

If you haven't yet made any sacrafices, how have you changed your driving habits?

For me, A LOT fewer trips to St. Mary's County to see the beauty, and the racing. I already drive as minimal as I can, and I have significantly changed acceleration habits.

Haven't changed anything. I still drive where I need and want to.

I bought a new car recently. Instead of another SUV, I got a car that averages 30 MPG. It also has a MPG display on the dash, and that makes me more aware of my driving habits. I avoid jackrabbit starts because of it.

I'm not driving less, and I'm not carpooling, so it obviously hasn't hurt me enough to do the things that would actually help the most.

No real change, only 1.1 miles to work. I take the bike a bit more often now tho, 45mpg.

Yeah, it's a short drive for me to. I can walk to Safeway and Subway from work, and it's a real nice walk

I do grocery for 2 weeks at a time, make a list of all the stores I need to go and then pick a day and conquer all. I keep my speed at 55 on the higway. I drive a stickshift, I get 38 mpg. I have actually done 42mpg from Ocean city to leonardtown. I have drastically changed the way I go.

I can't. I already take the bus and 80% of my driving consists of driving to and from the bus stop each morning. I'm on CWS at work and I do grocery shopping on return from work to minimize trips. We carpool always and minimize trips - because quite honestly, gas above TWO dollars a gallon is a lot.

So if gas goes to 10 dollars a gallon, my only option is to pay for it. I can't cut it any further. I already spend 10-15 hours a week riding buses.

I have cut back on unnecessary spending in other areas to make up for the gas price hike.

Cutting back on trips or driving style is not an option. I have to go to work. It's keep up with traffic or be plowed off the road on Rt. 4.

That's the real solution. If everyone that drove their hybrid car into town took the bus instead they might actually make a difference.
