Fallen Soldiers Remains Possibly Mishandled

"NEW YORK (CBS) -- A senior Army official tells CBS News the Pentagon is about to announce that facilities near Dover Air Force Base, Delaware which cremated the remains of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan may have used the same equipment to cremate animals.

The official says there is no indication at this time that the remains may have been mixed, but an investigation is underway.

The official says the military will announce at a 3:30 PM news conference that use of the cremation facilities has been suspended pending further investigation and the remains of troops will be sent to their hometowns for cremation."
