Having had to drive a breathalyzer equipped car once, I can tell you it interferes a LOT. Luckily, I had a passenger that could keep the car going by blowing in the device. Based on my experience, I think it would be dangerous to drive a manual transmission car with a breathalyzer in heavy traffic.
Exactly. I'm pizzed because if I buy a new car, I now have to buy a tire pressure sensor system.
my point is that in my life time this will never happen. there are way to many people like you folks who apprently enjoy the occasional DD, that would vote it down.

besides, as i said before, the calibration and monitoring would be expensive and hard to get politicians to back considering the backlash of what would amount to another tax..... I'm not worried about it happening.

aps, i guess you were pissed when three point seatbelts became mandatroy in cars, safety glass, etc....

I'd guess in my lifetime politicians would never mandate a safety system that actually kills people, but every new car sold has several airbags.
I'd guess in my lifetime politicians would never mandate a system to monitor your tire pressure because it's such a simple thing to check, but we've got it.
I don't get to vote on what "safety" features are mandatory in cars

Expensive? why should the pols care if they saddle us with another tax. It hasn't seemed to bother our representatives in Annapolis this year. They're much wiser than you and I and should be trusted with the money we earn.

Seat belts require a moment to fasten and safety glass requires no action at all. Find somebody with the breathalyzer and find out just how much time and effort it requires to get and keep you car running.

FYI - I don't drink, I always wear my seat belt when in a car and you're a pompas azz.

air bags save many more lives than they end, so thats just a rediculous argument, besides the passenger sides are usually disable-able.

politicians get voted on, thats why they wouldn't back soemthing that has little popular support but would increase the tax and physical obligaiton of everyone.

And i have been in a car with a guy who had a breathalyzer unit, it wasn't all that intrusive, he could easily operate it while driving. I mean you breath anyway, right?

Actually, I am scared to death of my airbag. Literally. Airbags kill short people on impact because we sit closer to the steering wheel. And you don't have an option to turn it off because you are a certain height. Actually the only way to turn it off, is to get an exemption by Congress. Do you see us short folks able to get that through Congress? The government took away my safety by mandating air bags.

Does this infringe upon my rights? Would mandating a breathe analyzer infringe upon my rights? Do I think the government should be in my home and personal vehicle? Am I just going to roll over and say "oh but I don't want to be a bad citizen" and just give up my rights? Or am I going to say "I'm a great citizen and these actions infringe upon my rights"? IS the government reaching this decision because they are being paid by lobbists and special interest groups? Does the government actually even legally have the right to mandate such a thing? I think it's wrong and I think if people just keep rolling over and letting big government control our lives, then we are no longer a free thinking society and might as well start the soviet era oppression that our parents and grandparents fought against.

Cause it seems like to me, when we are not allowed to think for ourselves, and are only allowed to follow government dictates, then we are Socialists. And of course, we all know form the history books how horrible the average citizen suffered under socialist rule.

as far as airbags go, i think you are buying into the conspiacy a little to hard. If they did indeed kill lots of short people there would be an outrage and things would change.

fot the breathalyzer issue, youi raise many good points, and it will be nearly impossible to force this on america as a result, as i said before.

But if they did indeed put on in every car sold, and you went about trying to bypass it, i would think you are more liklythan not to have a drinking problem.

i dont know why you people are getting so riled up over something that just aint gonna happen.

Maybe you don't hear about it cause it doesn't concern "you". Kind of one of those NIMBY people are you?

I was in a car accident a few years back. My airbag deployed and I died on impact. Thankfully, I had a great team of paramedics that worked on me all the way to the hospital. So I speak from first hand experience. That's how I know I cannot get my airbag removed without Congress agreeing. Do you think they actually look at all the individual petitions they get? I don't.

Here's an article or more for you on airbag danger to shorter people: Air Bag Injury Risk Linked to Height

Why are we concerned about it? Seriously? Do you take your freedom for granted? With every freedom to choose that we lose, the more we as individuals lose. Free society loses and disappears. And that's not what America is supposed to be about.

so you are a ghost????

obviously you didn't "die" or you would be dead.

But i will conceed that i haven't heard of a bunch of these cases. However i do know they make the passenger side disable-able because they can be dangerous to children, and i guess from what you are saying, tiny women too.

I still am not worried about the breathlyzers, it aint gonna happen.

BTW, in case you didn't notice, we lost the right to drink and drive a long time ago.
