Kick the Kimber Habit ....

The Kimber Kiss-up

Quote:
Regrettably, another famous maker of 1911s, Kimber Manufacturing, seems to have trouble separating the goodguys from the badguys. According to an article by Ken Hanson, Esq., circulated on the Web by the Buckeye Firearms Association, and appearing on U.S. Concealed Carry Magazine's website, Kimber has acquired a bad habit: kissing up disgustingly to the destroyers of individual liberty by creating weapons especially dedicated to various California police agencies. In Hanson's words, these guns were specifically "designed for a local government committed to stripping civilians of the right to own this same gun."

Emphasis added.

See: Gun manufacturers continue to aid gun banners | Buckeye Firearms Association

Hanson urges his readers to "educate" Kimber with regard to what a terrible idea this is. It's exactly as if Jewish tailors in the 1930s had taken pride in making uniforms for the Nazi S.S. There is no moral distinction. The author suggests a number of actions that concerned gun owners might take. chiefly calling or writing to the company at 914-964-0771x324, or via US mail at Kimber, 2590 Hwy 35, Kalispell, MT 59901.

Although Hanson wants you to warn Kimber and its dealers of a possible boycott of their products by shooters concerned with their rights, he suggests your communication remain "polite, professional yet firm". I would make no such suggestion. This is a major breach of an implicit moral bond between a gunmaker and its clients, it is the rankest, most repulsive kind of hypocrisy, and it must be dealt with no less promptly and harshly than I urged in my 2000 essay "S&W Must Die".

So Kimber won a contract with California Law Enforcement and this guy blows a gasket? I thought Kimber was in the business of selling firearms, not appeasing whackjobs.
Ed
PS
Kimber 1911's, in my humble opinion, are over-rated and over priced.

yeah Cali ... that supports the gun bans and gun grabs .... came up with the wacky notion of micro tagging every round ammo with a serial number ....

I suppose you still buy S&W weapons as well .........

maybe if gun manufacturers refused to sell products to states that want to ruin gun owners rights .... politicians might rethink somethings if the suddenly could not equip there gun grabbing PD's

Friggin idiots in California.. Kimber, I yeah, I remember reading something about them a few years ago, we should spend 5 times as much as we should and give our cops out there the best gun on the market..

And I'd like to see which PD is outfitting their cops with .45's.. Kimber probably had to go back and make custom 1911's in 9mm or 38.

Mmmmm, .38 Super. Sweet round, but too scarce and pricey.

Get a grip, homie. S&W has been under new management for years now, and the San Fran Loonies and LA Losers are no different from our very own Annapolidiots. As I said, Kimber is in business to sell firearms, providing jobs for its workers and profits for its shareholders. Don't like it? Don't buy one. I won't either, but for different reasons.
Ed
PS
My S&W 686 is a fine wheelgun, and rests in my nightstand between range days.
