| funny how the rumor that congress might do something bad causes gas to go up that very same moment, yet, when the rumor says that congress might do something good and stop the BS thats going on, the prices stay high while the speculators wait it out....

| I am just happy that the media and the Congress are finally waking up to all the phony phantom sypply and demands issues that these speculators have been ripping us off with for years. I would like to see Congress implement 80% tax rates on these guys, which would be a better way to get the money out of the business. I don't see the lowering of gas prices that soon though. Even if all the speculators bailed out of the market today, the price of gasoline is based on the price of oil, and it would be months before oil bought on the future's markets would make it's way through the refiners and out to the pumps. |

Bill Clinton 1996 One of the responsibilities of the government is to promote the general welfare. I read that to be constitutional actions, laws, that are aimed at a sense of fair opportunity and consistency and stability for the American people to build their lives around. It's one thing for people to get rich and then have bursting bubbles in the stock market, true speculation that so and so's widget is going to be really big or no. It is another to have speculation going on, that same sort of high stakes, last one gets caught holding the bag type of action in the fundamental building blocks of our lives; housing, food and energy. I already gave you and 2a credit, some time ago, for being right about the speculation in energy and that it was improper. It's time to make it unattractive. Increasing the margins and capital gain taxes for those that are not hedging on their own needs sounds good to me. The sooner, the better.
