I believe he lived somewhere here in Southern Maryland, one report said a Maryland State Police Chopper was dispatched to his home in SoMd to fly his family to the hospital.

Prayers to the family.

A Prince George's County police officer was struck and killed by a driver in a reportedly stolen pickup truck in the Laurel area Friday morning.

Police said officers were observing the truck in an apartment complex on Laurel-Bowie Road that had been reported stolen. After the officers saw two men get into the truck, they attempted a traffic stop, but the men did not stop.

The truck rammed the police cruiser, and at some point Cpl. Richard Findley got out of the cruiser and was struck and dragged by the pickup, police said.

Finley was rushed to Laurel Regional Hospital in serious condition. His family was flown from Carroll County to the hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter. They received official word of Findley's death from Prince George's County Police Chief Melvin High.

Police said a gun with one round discharged was found at the scene. Prince George's County police spokeswoman Sharon Taylor said police believe the officer fired shots during the incident, but it's unclear whether anyone was hit.

Officers were seen searching in and around the Giant Food store in the 13600 block of Laurel-Bowie Road. The pickup truck was found nearby.

Police spokesman Cpl. Clinton Copeland said officers searched a nearby apartment complex and are questioning at least four persons of interest. No charges have been filed.

Findley was a 10-year veteran of the Prince George's County Police Department and a volunteer with the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by a wife and two children.

Findley is the first officer to be killed in Prince George's County since 2005.

Guess maybe the news people confused Carroll County with Charles County.

They need to fry these thugs. Do it immediately and then cart there bodies out on gurneys for all the other thugs to see. These punks are not afraid of prison and violence is all they understand. The electric chair is too nice for these guys. Immediate death sentence in the harshest way... Maybe drag them behind a cop car for a few miles at normal response speed should do the trick.

If anyone remembers the incident with Cpl Stephen Gaughan (sp??) about 3 years ago, he was killed in the line of duty in the same general area....
