Investigation into the death of Scott Kalitta

BIG developments.

Apparently, the investigation is being run by New Jersey State Police, not the NHRA. So, unlike the death of Darrell Russell (which we still know nothing about), the information here WILL become known, WILL become public record and we WILL see the public records of Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

In light of the death of Scott Kalitta, the NHRA is FINALLY investigating their shutdown area procedures.

In addition, NHRA will analyze additional methods that might be developed at the top end of the race track to help arrest runaway vehicles, given the speed, mass and other factors synonymous with NHRA drag racing.
Alan Reinhartk, NHRA and OBTRP's top-end interviewer, said the following:
Quote:
Scott was absolutely conscience after the engine let go and he was driving the car until the last second.
I also strongly disagree with what Vandergriff said, but I'm not going to debate it here.
Alan
Now, when Alan speaks out, it's set in stone.

Also, a witness at the top-end of the track posted pictures of the carnage on the internet. Needless to say, they weren't up for very long. The NHRA had them pulled.

So, this is starting to get interesting. This crash is the one that will change drag racing, just like Earnhardt's was the one that changed NASCAR.

As a public service...

I am going to translate the NHRA statement into what they are actually saying.

As we continue to schedule dates against their existing races and try to run them out of business.

Because we NEVER would've imagined a 40-foot sand trap and a concrete wall would be unsafe.

According to my people, it's VERY RARE for Alan to post commentary on the happenings at the track.

In other words, he's just stopped the fan to let gravity take it's due course.

From what it sound like, NHRA has shown top-end video to NHRA officials. Also, unlike Russell's death, the blue box was retrieved. So, we WILL learn what happened.
