Ronnie White had been charged with first-degree murder in the June 27 death of Prince George's County Police Cpl. Richard S. Findley.

Upper Marlboro, MD (WUSA) -- The Prince George's County Department of Corrections today announced that Ronnie L. White, 19, who was charged with the June 27 first-degree murder of Prince George's County Police Cpl. Richard S. Findley, was pronounced dead at Prince George's Hospital.

White had been transported to Prince George 's Hospital where he was pronounced dead Sunday, June 29, at 11:39 a.m. He was taken to the hospital after correctional officers found him about 10:30 a.m. sitting on the floor in his Upper Marlboro cell, unresponsive. There appeared to be no visible signs of trauma. He was transported to the hospital after emergency responders at the Correctional Center could not revive him or detect a pulse.According to sources, units from Prince George's County Fire/EMS were called and found White to be a "working code". White was taken Prince George's Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

White was admitted to the Correctional Center 12:24 a.m. Saturday. He was given a medical assessment prior to being placed in a cell. He had been classified as a high profile offender and was being housed in a maximum security cell where he was routinely checked every half hour.

Prince George's County Public Safety Director Vernon Herron immediately asked the Prince George 's County Police Department to begin an investigation of White's death. Mary Lou McDonough, interim director of the Corrections Department, began an internal investigation.

White was charged on Saturday with Friday's murder of Corporal Findley. Findley was run down when he attempted to block in and stop a stolen pick-up truck.
