Don't really know about the chamber of commerce, and B.E.T is probably the worst thing that happened to black people.

But the United Negro College fund was created back in the 40's when most white were not lining up to offer scholarships to blacks. The Black Miss America started back in the 60's to as a form of protest, because of the lack of blacks in the "Regular" Miss American pageant.

Those things all started when blacks didn't have access to the institutions already in place and they've largely continued out of habit.

...with the exception of BET, which every black person knows actually stands for "Black Evil Television." *shudder*

And it really bothers me when people say "blacks have to have their own" or "blacks think ____." Do you think there's some kind of big forum meeting that every black person in the country attends and we decide what our common position is on something? (Just 'cause some people want a separate Black Miss America pageant doesn't mean the rest of us do.)

So what there are tons of other examples that black people want to have "black only" or damn near close to it.

Now, when I say that I know that there are alot of blacks that would be all for doing away with them but they exist none the less and no one will speak up against it or you are labeled a racist or uncle Tom ect...

Are you black? How would you know this? Yes you use the word probably but what's your point? Do you not recognize the fact that many black folks like myself have different tastes in entertainment than most other americans? We (as in all of us) have network TV, PPV, Movie networks ETC which play subject matter to please mainly white america. If you want a W.E.T which plays all white entertainmenmt because you can't get enough of it on every other channlel that exists than band together and fight for it. I could give a rats a@@.

I have the colert filter on my set.
it changes the skin tones to white so I dont have to look at colored people while enjoying my pickled pigs feet and bud.

I must admit that it does make some of the afro sheen commercials look a bit strange, but other than that? it works perfectly.

Funniest damn thing I've read all day.

I do just the opposite and turn the color and brightness all the way down to make everything look black. I've also purchased one of those voice changing devices to make everyone sound like Barry White and James Earl Jones. Come in handy when BET is broadcasting re-runs of rerun.

There are a ton of societies, scholarship funds, colleges ect... that are considered to be exclusively black. Maybe they don't out right bar whites and others from them but they might as well.

You are lying to yourself if you can't see the difference in acceptabilty when you put "black" on something vs. "white".
