Here's gratitude for you...

...or, they'd still bee-atch if you hung 'em with a new rope. This isn't the only example of ingratitude out there (hint: Philadelphia rebuilt a neighborhood after the cops bombed it), but it's probably the most recent.

I would like to point out a few things in the article, as well as one that isn't spelled out explicitely.

1st, the building is a secured building. That means only residents (and management) and other authorized persons have access to the building.

2nd, I had to pay fair market value (at the price I could negotiate) for my house, my vehicles...for everything I own, including my own computers and other network equipment.

3rd, low income housing is funded by you and me, the people who actually pay taxes. I don't mind that; part of being an American is helping those who can't help themselves. I do resent being compelled to help those who are capable, but refuse to help themselves.

Here's the link: ESCONDIDO: Residents complain low-income complex isn't up to standards

So pretty much the point of this article is that they were given nice housing, they trashed it, and are now complaining that it is trashed?

That was pretty much my take on it. And people wonder why we're moving inexerably toward a complete nanny state.

This happens to almost every low rent project.

I will bet you one thing about this one. Strangers and people from other buildings didnt roam in here and trash the place. The trashing was done by residents. The stains on the caropets werent put there by guests, The drapes werent cut by roving bands of malcontents.Probably the damage wasnt done by the residents paying the rent, more likely by their kids who run wild, while Mom is out breeding or buying her dope. Most of these places last about 10 years before major repairs and refurbishing.

I have to wonder how many of those who live there would point out the people doing the damage. They know who is doing it, Dont think they dont. They are afraid of the trash they live around.

So they look for someone to come back in once a month or so and fix what they destroy.

Must be nice, I wouldnt know, I have to paint my own home, keep the appliances working, buy light bulbs water and electricity, cut the lawn, fix the road, and clean up the messes made.
Must be nice just to call and say I stopped my sink up with grease and food particles, send out the free maintenance man. The cockroaches are running wild , do you really expect me to buy a roach hotel?? send out the free exterminator. The kids wrote on the wall send out the free painter, The rugs got dirty send out the free rug cleaner man.
my furniture is dusty , do you have a free maid service??

unless residents allowed outsiders to follow them into the building ....

low rent while the people living there may be good folks, they might have some shadier friends that bring others along with them ....
