We'd know all sorts of stuff about guns that would remove the stereotypes and stigmas, hence the fears, they attach to them. There's be talking guns on Disney movies that were both the bad guys AND the good guys that save the day.

There's be rough and dangerous looking gun owners helping little old ladies safely across the street and getting kittens, safely, out of trees, and men with guns who stop the bad guy so that a car full of orphans that used to be terrified of the bad gun man don't get crushed to death by a psycho with a front end loader.
