I shouldn't have to Google your own #### for you.

RIAA says ripping CDs is illegal, RIAA goes to judges to conduct raids on peoples' homes, judges give RIAA permission, thus it's become illegal to legally rip a CD.
Sir, do you not see how unintelligent you sound? If a judge is giving permission to conduct raids, search warrants I presume, on people's homes then the act the people are committing is already illegal. That is why you really sound like someone who quite doesn't get it when you say....legally copying something is illegal.

Also, to say
Quote:
People are having their homes raided by the RIAA (thanks to liberal judges) everyday for just that
is also a bit idiotic. Liberal judges would be more inclined to deny the search warrant based on individual rights, while conservative judges would side with the more narrow view that the business has it's own rights.

Wow! I don't know what you do for a living but I truly hope you have no influence on anyone else!

Dude if it is Illegal, then it is not Legal Copying ....

you care to rephrase that .....

the point here is, Music Company Execs, are trying to say, have offered testimony in court, that their opinion is ...

making a copy of a CD either in a disk to disk format, or by reducing the file size and making MP3's that are more easily stored Illegal

when you 'Buy' a CD, your licensing the right to listen to that music .... but once you have licensed the rights to listen to a paticular song, music companies, through RIAA, wants to control the particular format you use to listen .....

back when I was Teen, we still bought Records on Vinyl .... and the 1st tape recorder I had was an 8 Track, and later a Cassette, an I would make my own mix tapes .... with RIAA's thinking I would have been guilty of CRI, for recording my legally owned records onto tape, for later use in my CAR ....

this is only expanded by an order of magnitude these days with the internet and file sharing ....

no one thought twice about going over to a friends house and recording tracks off their albums to take back home or play in the car.... or how about recording songs off of the radio ......

the internet has just allowed friends to share music on a global scale .... and the harder they squeeze the more people will pirate music just to thumb there noses @ RIAA and such ...

the last CD I bought was a Toby Keith CD, after going to a concert ... in 05 before that was the MiB soundtrack ... and when did that movie come out ?

music IMHO sucked and was not worth paying $15 bucks for a CD with one good song ....

This is what I am trying to get across to this guy but he doesn't get it. Now as to your other points. When you buy something in a media form, that is what you purchased. You don't have the right to copy that to another media form. I am not saying it is right, I am just simply stating you can't copy your Toby Keith or whatever to give to your friends.

It hurts to type, but

The MPAA and the RIAA are more corrupt than any government organization. The question over laws and whether or not you're allowed to copy a CD and all of that have led me to not buy CDs or DVDs anymore. If there's a movie I want to see, I'll watch it when it comes to TNT, and they'll re-air it over and over and over so I won't miss it.

If there's a CD I want to listen to, I'll channel my happy ass over to last.fm and listen to it. I'm not giving those commies the money.

I used to record the races off MRN Radio all the time onto cassette, same with songs I liked on the radio. And, you know, sometimes it was just because I didn't know the title or author of the song.

Oh what, somdmpd oh wise one, do you suppose I do when I don't know the title or author of a song that's on the radio?

Oh yeah, supposedly it's also illegal to download music from GoMusic.RU in the United States because it's a Russian website. I've been told this by a few people.

I've already had to spend $65 on a new DVD player because the MPAA changed the disc encoding standards to make DVD burners and DVD Recorders obsolete. What's next? They're going to change the CD standards and I'll have to spend $200 to get my car radio replaced?

They'll end at nothing, and I'm a little tired of having to purchase new hardware everytime I do actually buy a DVD.

Regular DVDs. I had a huge rant session a while back.

I couldn't watch any movies dated early 2006 or newer. I had to watch them all on my laptop.

Still do use my laptop since it's widescreen.

Even on Windows XP, it wouldn't play because it needed a new encoder for it. Only program they work on is Vista Media Center or VLC.
