I have no doubt. Hopefully one side effect is sterilization. Ignorant people shouldn't breed.

I declined chicken pox vaccine also. Fortunately, it was not mandatory at the time. Son got pox and lived to tell about it, as did I and most of my friends. I have friends who vaccinated their kids and they still got it so what exactly is the vaccine protecting them from? I can understand vaccinating for potentially damaging or fatal diseases like Polio, Measles and Mumps but come on.....chicken pox? So we might all end up with shingles some day. Who's to say we wouldn't anyway even with the vaccine? I did not need a doctor to tell me that it was risky and I'm glad I didn't do it. And I would have a real problem with the government telling me I had to vaccinate my 11 or 12-year-old daughter against a sexually transmitted disease!!

I do not understand why they have to have it before they enter the 6th grade. It's not like they should be having sex in school and therefore may spread HPV. They should be learning in school. It is not the school's problem if there is an outbreak. Unlike with all the other vaccines that are given to kids before they enter school it is not something that can be spread in a classroom per se.

Middle school is where a lot of girls start. They are trying to "save" the most "at risk" girls, so they are trying to impose it onto all girls at that age.

...do bananas and condoms become part of the teaching plan?

I do not think that is the state's decision to make. My oldest is 3 I am hoping that by the time she is old enough to get it that all the kinks are worked out and she will be able to. I do not expect her to become sexually active so young though but figure it is for her furture. But that decision should be left up to the child and the parents not the state.

Never had that, but I did start having sex ed in 5th grade. I was homeschooled from 9th grade on but for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th I had it. The thing is though that is different. That is teaching this is actually putting something in a young person's body. Something the state should have no control over. They can't make a girl start using birth control in 6th grade because "they might" start having sex. Also the parent has to consent to the sex ed class.

Merck--along with Women in Government (WIG), a recipient of Merck funding--goes one step further, advocating mandatory vaccination. WIG has introduced bills in 20 states; in Florida, Merck helped write the legislation. In Texas, brushing aside abstinence junkies and the legislature, Gov. Rick Perry issued an executive order requiring vaccination for all girls entering the sixth grade unless parents opt out.
The stealth timing (late on Friday before Superball Sunday), the politics (Perry is a pro-abstinence Christian Conservative), and speed of Perry's order (just months after the FDA approved the vaccine and before all the data have been published), raised questions. It soon emerged that the WIG state director is the mother-in-law of Perry's current chief of staff, and his former chief of staff is now one of Merck's three Texas lobbyists. The governor received $6,000 from Merck's political action committee.

HVP vaccine mandatory

Most sexually active people are exposed to some form of HPV in their lifetime. It has nothing to do with promiscuity. You don't even need to have symptoms to be carrying it. Sort of like Epstein-Barr- almost all of us are exposed to that by the time we're 35, but the majority never get sick. This vaccine does not protect against all strains of HPV, just the ones more commonly linked to causing cervical cancer.

I'm wondering about the window for vaccination though. Does the virus in the vaccine (dead or "altered") need to be in their system for a while in order to be effective? And why am I considered "too old" to get it?
