Open Car Windows Show MD Economy Really Hurting

Young and old, I see them sweating and wiping their and their children’s brows as they sit in hot traffic trying to save a few pennies so they can survive, $4-plus gas prices, higher air conditioning bills, skyrocketing food prices — and of course higher Maryland taxes.

Link to rest

Screw that, I'm not afraid to waste a little extra gas.

It's cheaper to use your air conditioning and leave your windows up.

The title should be "Open Car Windows Show That Many MD Drivers Are Stupid Sheep."

I have to disagree with this. I have experimented many times in both of my vehicles and when ever my AC is on I get considerable less MPG. Like 3-4 MPG less then I would get with no AC. Not to mention the AC robs your vehicle horribly of power.

Personally, I don't like AC anyways. It could be the hottest day of the year and you will find me riding along with my windows down. I'm not trying to save money, I just like the windows down.

For me the A/C goes on depending on the time of day I go out. If I know I am going to be out & about during the busier traffic times of the day when I'll likely end up sitting in traffic I'll kick it on.. But during low traffic times of the day I am more likely to just open all the windows up.

Mine goes on based on 2 things:
How humid it is out. I hate being wet and sticky. Temp really doesn't matter.

How much loose paper there is in the truck that will fly out if I open a window.
