All I can say is the snake can't fit through it. Snake came from somewhere else and probably lifted the lid up and snuggled in the warm and wet clothes.

Now guys, think, if you can, just how far that water line or pipe, extends from outside your house to where it is connected to your washing machine.

Mine is from right next door (Metcom house is a few hundred feet away from the house). Also, there is no "forest" around here.

Also, it may have came in through the dryer vent (if some people don't have "screen mesh" or some type of "covering" over the outside dryer vent) and push the door open. Then, found warm heat source right next to the dryer and moved into there.

Ding! Ding! Ding! You win the prize!

But, that is not what they're saying in the story!

"The snake, identified as a reticulated python, somehow got into the water pipes of Mara Ranger's 1800s-era farmhouse and slithered into the machine."

Forgive me, Mousebaby and Strawberrygal, I didn't intend to ignore you.

I don't think I've seen a news story like this where they seemed to have gotten it all wrong.

Getting into the dryer duct, and then sneaking into the washer from the top, I can buy. But NOT their rationale!

Measure the internal diameter of the sewer lines and the drainage pipes before you gloat. This is not the first time a snake has gotten into a washing machine (I used to have to chance these buggers when dad ran an appliance store in the midwest) Black snakes, not pythons, that is.

Ok, I see where the drain pipe, coming out of the wall is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter, then the drain hose coming out of the washer is about an inch and a half, maybe a little more.

That's how it might have made the trip!

But think about it; that is one heck of a long "squeeze" for that snake to have travelled.

Determined rascal, eh?

My neighbor found a black snake in his toilet yesterday. H called a plumber and they laughed at him, but it was there. evidently it got there by coming in through the septic system., not a very pleasant trip I would imagine.
