Im sure nobody wants their kids to go to war.
Im sure that no kid wants to go to war, but the reality is that somebody has to do it to insure #######s still maintain their right to speak out against those that do.

I say we give them as much respect and privacy as we can.

they are the ones right now making sure my rights stay in place.
God bless them all.

Just like you are trying to do here on this forum. Well as a retired Navy man I say this... Using the death of brave Americans as a political statement is cowardice and you and the NY Times should be ashamed of yourselves.
Showing the truths of war is bad? Giving the populace access to all images of war (not just the ooh-rah, jingoistic & warm-fuzzy) so they can form a well rounded opinion is bad? Ergo, hiding the truth, even partially, is good? Your logic astounds me.

The deaths that occur due to a war based on dubious reasons are far more shameful than the simple desire for the whole picture.

Mmmmkay, I'll bite on this one - what rights of yours were threatened by Saddam & the rest of Iraq?

Showing the truths of reckless driving is bad? Giving the populace access to all images of car accidents (not just the ooh-rah, ear splitting sounds of NASCAR) so they can form a well rounded opinion is bad? Ergo, hiding the truth, even partially, is good? Your logic, sir/madam astounds me.

In today's electronic age, publishing pictures perhaps before next of kin are notified to prove a political point, or to earn a buck is shameful. For you to question motive to satisfy your anger over policy is disgraceful.

they were harboring terrorists.
terrorists that would love to see the U.S brought down. My freedom is threatened at that point.

but dont worry, you libs can sit back and rump range each other while the real Americans insure that our freedom and our safety stay in place.

Sorry it the NY Times' circulation is down, but wanting to make a buck by exploiting the death of American servicemen is disguating

But you're not disgusted by the way W has exploited the military? If someone disagrees with you myopic view of the world, they're a basement dwelling #######?

Lemme skew your perception of those who disagree; I was in the Navy myself, have the Honorable Discharge on the wall right now. Bought my first house with VA backing. I was a Navy Brat as well, lived around the world (Sicily, Antigua, Guam and bases in RI, MS, CA) & went to DoD schools; dad retired as a CWO4 after 30 years as a SeaBee. Mom worked for NavSea, NIS and then MSC before retiring. Sis was a Marine for 8 before going to work for Lockheed 9 years ago. Grandpa, on my mom's side, was on a destroyer in WWII. I'd wager that I've had far more exposure to the DoD than most here.

Living in a basement? Hardly. I'm raising twins as a single parent with full custody. I made the mistake of voting for W in 2000, after 8 years of the scandals associated with Clinton. I've regretted that vote ever since W gave up that P-3 to the Chinese.

So, sparky, "opposed to war" isn't just the hallmark of what you might consider the liberal left or those with no real life experience. Often, it's far from it.

Red Asphalt seemed to do a pretty good job of that. Hit Youtube and do a vid search for WSIB - if showing the dangers of carelessness is purported to be beneficial, why not the dangers of war?

how could photos of the "dangers of war" be reported without bias?

If you do not have respect for yourself you cannot have respect for others - this is apparent by the OP's opening and follow up comments.

It is easy for people to sit behind their keyboards and throw crap, I am sure it would be different if they were in a real life setting...
