I would think that a commercial place running a water ride would build in a safety factor far exceeding any expected weight problems that might occur.

MMM

I have seen fatter than that guy, in a thong I've seen 'em on water slides to boot

I assumed this was individual tubes, not a multi-person tube. I dont' think the child's injury occurred from the ride itself, but perhaps her daddy fell on her.

You would think. I wonder what OSHA has to say about this. When they're last inspection was... what, if any safety criteria a public waterslide park is required to follow.

This story reminds me of that movie Norbit...when Rasputia gets to the top of the slide the guy tells her she's overweight and she says, "What the hell are you talking about weight limit? I'm 135!"

Yes

And to further the discussion, fat people should pay more taxes since they don't take care of themselves. To make an even more pointed remark, we should all be taxed for buying foods that aren't healthy--i.e. microwave popcorn. Fat people should pay more for cable TV too.

Why? Airbag is designed for a 6 foot 200 lb man. It could cause serious injury to someone much smaller.

can you imagine if someone got stuck in one of those tunnel water chutes. There would be a big pile up behind them.Sorry I know it is a serious topic but just have a vision of all these people stuck behind the obstruction makes me laugh-as long as nobody is hurt of course.
