Traffic light out - PAX Gate 1

0700: I was heading off base and heard over the scanner Police trying to get a few units to PAX gate 1 for the Traffic light out. MDSHA has been called as well.

Coming off base I had a blinking red. Looked in my rear view mirror while heading north on 235 and saw Yellow blinking lights for the southbound lanes trying to get onto PAX as well as for thru traffic at that intersection.

At 7:04 when I got to the light there were no police on the scene yet to deal with directing traffic. Traffic was flowing smoothly into the base for southbound 235 but for those trying to cross 235 at Pegg Rd. it was almost impossible to catch a break to get over because the southbound 235 traffic would not let them in. Most were trying to back up to make the right to go south on 235 to gates 2 & 3.

07:24 Police are now on scene and are sending units up to EXPLORATION DR. to Block off Both of the Turn lanes leading into PAX. All traffic will have to go to Gates 2 & 3 to access PAX.

Police also mentioned something about Blocking the Left hand turn lane on Peggs road to direct all traffic exiting Pegg Road to go south.

07:26 Officers are now out at EXPLORATION blocking both turn lanes into PAX gate one. All traffic must proceed south through that intersection now.

0733: Now they are saying they want to block off the left hand turn lanes into PAX after the light at Expedition Drive. Also some reference made to blocking off the Right hand turn lane from 235 South onto Pegg road to keep folk from trying to turn in there and do a U-Turn to access Gate 1 from there.

I hope this gets fixed before people start leaving the base for the funeral procession today. They could have a real mess on their hands if not.

If I am understanding this correctly there are trying to stop traffic at 235 & PEGG periodically to allow that traffic to cross over 235 to gain access to the base via gate 1.

Was fine when I came through at 7 but I knew it was going to go bad real fast.

Maryland State Highway Admin have already been notified but I have yet to here anyone mention an ETA for them.
