We had a water rescue boat blow past us on 4 around 5:40ish yesterday (being towed by an EMS vehicle of course) and we could hear a chopper but didn't see it.

2 calls for Helo at the same time. Calvert Deputies were chasing a guy through the woods for an open warrant and requested a helo for a search for him. 2nd call was a boat in distress in st leonard. Coast guard called for helo for the boat, not Calvert. Thats where the confusion was. The boat in distress wasnt serious, a broken mast on a sailboat, thats why helo wasnt needed there. So Tpr.2 was rerouted to go assist the police.

Anyway, what is it really called? I'm seriously thinking about buying a portable scanner and I'm doing my research now. The car item sounds interesting, too.
RadioShack.com - Portable Music: Accessories: CD player accessories: Wireless FM Transmitter

I think you'll also need to buy an 1/8" Mono to male to 1/8" Stereo Female Adpator or you'll only get sound out of one side of the car system.
