Palin confirms daughter's pregnancy - Americas, World - The Independent

The Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has announced that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.
Bristol Palin, one of Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said.
"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said.

Having to announce this is ceratinly embarrassing to Mrs.Palin as it is for any mother in this situation, to infer that she is making this announcement simply to knock down rumors that Palin faked her own pregnancy is the height of stupidity.

The young lady is pregnant and going to marry the father. I approve of the latter and wish she would have waited until marriage to have children.

Her mother and McCain knew about the pregnancy when Palin was selected.

How the pregnancy got convoluted into her having a previous baby is beyond me. Please enlighten me.

Good gravy. I agree with this statement, but admit you'd never have said such a thing if this occurred in some immoral liberal politician's family.

I actually don't believe that someone should be judged for leadership competence by the actions - as long as they're legal- in their personal lives, or those of their families, regardless of their political positions. But um...if this had been Chelsea Clinton or if Obama's daughters were older and got into such a situation, you would have been all over this sh!t.
