Try being the first mayor elected outside the good-ole'-boy crowd in about 12 years. When Dad defeated the owner of the only bank in town for mayor and made the Sheriff enforce the parking laws, guess who got the first ticket for using two parking spaces for a grey Coupe-de-Ville? The Sheriff had wanted to do that for 8 years.

It ended up with the former mayor taking out a full one-page 'Goose-stepping, jack-booted Nazi Sheriff' advertisement in the town weekly paper. 'course all the farmers in the area, who hated the bank anyway, took about $6 million to the bank down the road.
