US Military Searches For MIAs In Germany

US Military Searches German Battlefields for Fallen Soldiers

"Experts with the United States military expend enormous resources to search for the bodies of missing soldiers. A team is currently at work in the northern Eifel Mountains region of western Germany, where tens of thousands of Americans died during World War II.

(Denise) To and her team are part of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC), a special division within the United States Department of Defense. In many places around the world, JPAC teams are searching for American prisoners of war, or POWs, and soldiers missing in action, or MIA. "

There are rumors of American, British , French and other western allied soldiers"liberated" from various stalags in the Russian zones and not returned as was agreed upon at the conclusion of hostilities. These men and women were forced to accept Soviet citizenship and settled in the far eastern provinces of the old SU.
Add to that the many airmen shot down in clandestine missions over soviet occupied territory, kidnapped off the streets in West Berlin, Korean war POWs as well those unaccounted for from Nam.
It is to our shame that we may have sacrificed many of our own for the sake of Perestroika.
