Pit bull owner on trial for attack on postal carrier

A Westminster pit bull owner whose dog attacked a mail carrier is on trial for allowing a vicious animal to cause serious injury.

Sheri Moody, 54, of Westminster – who has a history of keeping aggressive animals – faces up to a year in jail if she is convicted. Her jury trial began Monday.

Moody's dog, Maggie, attacked mail carrier David Carroll as he was delivering mail next door on Sept. 4, 2007. He suffered bruises and cuts and had to get stitches. Maggie was euthanized afterward.

This isn't taking place in southern Maryland, but it does typify the kind of crack head thinking you find everywhere these days. Specifically, I'm talking about the line where the woman on trial says the following, which is that she:
"should not be criminally charged for what she called a routine occurrence - a dog attacking a mail carrier."

Just when you think you've heard the most astounding thing come out of somebody's mouth...to quote comedienne Tammy Pescatelli, "What the hell is wrong with people!?"

That goes double for the moronic judge who reduced the felony charge to a misdemeanor, despite the woman's history.

Looks like the county may have depleted her supply of pit bulls. Wonder if any of Michael Vick's remaining pets are available for adoption.

The woman deserves to be punished for not being responsible but it's horrible that the dog was euthanized. Pit bulls get a bad rap, i have a pit bull pup next to me and it's their owners that make them aggressive.
