One thing is 100% certain to me, if someone is 25 or 55 and can't get a decent job because they dropped out and now want to get a diploma they are going to be 1,000% more interested and dedicated than some kid who is being held prisoner in a school until he can get his "completion certificate".

BUT... there are plenty of stupid kids and if they don't have the guidance to stay on course and complete their education, then some of them won't. I'm not sure about this idea...but I know that there are some kids who need somebody to keep them on track because their parents most definitely don't. Some kids are lucky enough to have that teacher or friend who helps them realize how important their education is...but others aren't so fortunate

Ok, so tell me how much someone who just wants to drop out is going to learn when he is forced to sit in American History class?

Watch Leno, or any of those man on the street shows where they ask people simple questions and they giggle and get it totally wrong.

These people DO NOT CARE! Forcing them to graduate only puts unnecessary stress on state, county, city school boards and administrators and detracts from the future of our country, namely those who want to learn something.

LET THEM LEAVE! They have people post-school who will help them keep their lives on track. They are called deputies, judges, district attorneys and probation officers.

You're probably right! My step-daughter is in High School and I was stunned to learn what the grading system is now! It's been lowered so much that I can't believe kids can still fail! It's great to have a lot of kids graduating from the schools but it would be nicer to have them graduated and educated too!

For the record.
I am NOT advocating the idea of forcing these kids to graduate. I agree, that is stupid. I am advocating programs to at least give the kids that are willing to listen a chance when there may not have been one.
