"A school might have a high graduation rate but still have a low rate for black or Hispanic students or for kids with disabilities. Making schools responsible for progress in every group of students puts pressure on schools to improve."

Why did they not pose it like this: "We don't care what your rate is for Whitey... Just get the minority numbers up.

Socialism at its core... When will this country hold individuals responsible for themselves and their own again?

Any child can get an education if he/she is willing to listen. That is why going to school is mandatory... Those who drop out choose to do so and won't listen regardless of the law!

Spend the money on the kids who want an education and let society sort out the others. Do people realize that if you force good students to be around students who do not or will not care about education you bring the good students down a notch?

Most do not realize that!

The fact is that if it were a white kid talking like that, you both would be lamenting how public education has failed him.

Fluff it off if you want. You're both being pretty clear.

No. I'm telling you my wonder bread kid used to talk like that. I didn't post the video for that reason.

This thread was talking about public school and getting a high school diploma.

The video had Biden talking about college for EVERY child, as a RIGHT.

Neither is right, and slow kids hold the smart ones back.

We will soon be a country of retards.

What's that movie? Idiocracy?

You're the only one who decided you had to say something mean about that child. I understood that the kid was not the point of the video. Sorry you didn't.

The school here has speech therapy for all students. They have done a fine job for all who needed it. People wonder why I have stayed here for so long. Each state/county is different as far as the programs they offer.

This is taking the thread off topic so I will bow out.

I got your point and the democrats have as usual totally screwed up the difference between "opportunity" and "entitled".

So you're saying that if a kid who grows up in an environment of parents who don't work, and live off of the system, doesn't feel like going to school and learning, that we should just let them drop out? I would prefer to have a generation of kids who are better than their parents, not ones who give up their potential because of bad examples.

Also..I never hung around the type of kids who were all nerdy and into doing their work, and even hung around ones you'd probably say didn't care about their education, and I did just dandy in school...and mostly took honors classes and above
