You can hug them tightly when they are released on some stupid technicality. Kaboom!

What you are ignoring is the fact that we are talking about people who want to kill all of us. They will do everything in their power to kill my children. I refuse to sit here and feel sorry for them because they are sheltered and fed instead of being allowed to fly airplanes into buildings..
then why weren't they tried years ago and sentenced?

Obama signs order to close Guantanamo in a year - Yahoo! News

President Barack Obama began overhauling U.S. treatment of terror suspects Thursday, signing orders to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center, review military war crimes trials and ban the harshest interrogation methods.
The centerpiece order would close the much-maligned Guantanamo facility within a year, a complicated process with many unanswered questions that was nonetheless a key campaign promise of Obama's. The administration already has suspended trials for terrorist suspects at Guantanamo for 120 days pending a review of the military tribunals.

In the other actions, Obama:

_Created a task force that would have 30 days to recommend policies on handling terror suspects who are detained in the future. Specifically, the group would look at where those detainees should be housed since Guantanamo is closing.

I meant to STOP the quibbling, because there are different sources with differing version of the same information.

Yes, it's clear the intent is to close down within a year.

Aren't there some of them requesting that they be executed so they can become martyrs?

Torture Works, and works, and works.....

But, as pointed out in almost every article, this says nothing about torture. It merely limits interrogation techniques to the Army Manual on how to do it, stopping the CIA's LEGAL techniques. This, with the full knowledge that our enemies are trained to withstand the Army's techniques.

See, the CIA's methods are legal, and torture is illegal, so torture is really not the point, Arianna.

They were in the process of being tried in military tribunals. Obama put a stop to that.

Since it's not torture, you care to be waterboarded?

I mean, after all, it's the party line that waterboarding is not torture.
