Sen Kennedy like jokes about

As long as we’re on the subject of humor this morning, what kind of jokes did the late Ted Kennedy like to tell his closest friends? One of Kennedy’s close friends, former editor of Newsweek and New York Times Magazine Ed Klein, tells the Diane Rehm Show that Chappaquiddick jokes were high up on the list (audio here, at 30:10):I don’t know if you know this or not, but one of his favorite topics of humor was indeed Chappaquiddick itself. And he would ask people, “have you heard any new jokes about Chappaquiddick?” That is just the most amazing thing. It’s not that he didn’t feel remorse about the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, but that he still always saw the other side of everything and the ridiculous side of things, too.
Jules Crittenden wonders (with a great deal of snark) if “you had to be there.” Mark Hemingway is aghast:
EXCUSE ME? If that’s true it makes Kennedy kind of a monster. The odd thing is that if you listen to the whole show, the tone of everyone involved is nauseatingly haigographic and reverential. Klein apparently let his guard down a bit; after he lets it slip Kennedy liked to joke about the woman he killed you can actually hear in his voice that he’s trying to backpedal. The show actually cuts to a break as he’s trying to explain himself, and I seriously wonder if it wasn’t the producers trying to do Klein a favor. But I’m sorry, there appears to be little to that could explain this. It goes way beyond “you had to be there.”
If nothing else, it puts to rest the notion that Kennedy’s remorse balances out the undeniable cowardice of his actions at Chappaquiddick.

In my Opinion the only remorse Ted Kennedy had was that the death of Mary Jo kept him out of the White House. In that case Mary Jo was a heroin.

More from the article:

"Even allowing for the best possible spin on his actions that day, what kind of person jokes about an incident that left a young woman dead in the back of his own car? "

After reading all of the commentary, I had to wonder to myself, was Ted Kennedy that sick - to make and laugh at jokes concerning the incident?

Twisted, is the word that comes to mind.............

I saw bits and pieces of the funeral this morning but refused to sit and actually watch it and was rather upset my husband would sit there and watch it. I think it takes a hell of a P.O.S. to have left Mary (and if my memory serves me right - she was an only child) in the car like that. That incident is just something that will always be etched in my mind marking Ted as a pig that only ever thought about himself and his reputation. If he had one iota of care and compassion in him, he would have faced up to his wrong doing right after driving that vehicle into the water, not 24-hours later. He was far too addicted to alcohol to ever be a Senator IMO.

This is why I am hoping someone makes a mistake and plants the bloated POS in the water garden on the Kennedy Memorial Mountain-Mausoleum

Forgive me. In the last hour and a half, as much as I tried NOT to revisit what Mike has posted, the information about Ted Kennedy making light of the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, I can't let it rest.

Frankly, I had not heard of this bit of information, prior to today. The thought of him doing that, which is backed up by the weblinks, well.......it makes me sick to my stomach - that a respected statesman, could or would, stoop to that level.

He caused her death, one way or another, and he found ways to find mirth/laughter from that incident?

Now he is being laid to rest, in an exceptionally honorable manner; many of our nations' elite are casting kind words upon him. He's being interred at the Arlington National Cemetary, the site which many of our nation's finest heroes have been laid to rest.

Why in the heck is HE being buried there??

Soon after the stories of sickO Ted's perverted sense of humor, I heard about this post from the pillars of humanity over at the Huffington Post. Not a joke, but just as sick. This story turns my stomach:

Quote:
August 28, 2009
Huffpo: Jesus, Mary Jo Kopechne Sacrificed Their Lives for Kennedy's Awsomeness

Wow. This is just sick. Mary Jo Kopechne as Jesus.

She died so He could live:

We don't know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she'd have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. What we don't know, as always, could fill a Metrodome...

Who knows -- maybe she'd feel it was worth it.

You know, when I wake up in the morning I say two prayers.

One to cute little baby Jesus, thanking him for His Eternal sacrifice and the ability it gives me to repent of my sins. And for creating NASCAR.

And oblations to Mary Jo Kopechne, thanking her for Her Eternal sacrifice and how that enabled Ted Kennedy to live another day so he could fight for universal healthcare.
The Jawa Report: Huffpo: Jesus, Mary Jo Kopechne Sacrificed Their Lives for Kennedy's Awsomeness

Very disturbing. I think Teddy would like the story and gotten a chuckle out of it.
