| Quote: From looking at those numbers, it seems that as unpopular as Obama is, the GOP is still slightly less popular.

| Romney's a freaking joke, I'd vote against him no matter what ticket he was on. He flips and flops more than a fish out of water.

| It's a little early to put any stock into theoretical match-up poles, things change drastically approaching and after the nomination of the oppossing candidate. At the same time, don't count Obama out, and if that pole tells you anything, that is what it tells you. Obama may be unpopular at the moment, the media will rev up to bias all the reporting toward their favorite candidate, which will be Obama, and tear down the opposition, which we only has weak candidates at the moment. The opposition candidate may end up being less popular then Obama. And what will a 2nd term of Obama look like? Especially if he can keep the Senate Majority, and even win back a House Majority? I'm pretty disenchanted with Romney as well, but right now, I'm less disenchanted with him then Obama. Romney is the "SAFE" candidate according to conventional wisdom. And if we try to beat Obama, playing it safe, taking no risks, just try to win over those disenchanted Moderates/Independents to break the tie; against Obama with the Media on his side, I'm betting we'll lose. | What I see is, it's still unclear - but I do have to think that Obama cannot win based on what he's done in office. I don't care if that sounds like a talking point or not, it's just true. The very best he can claim is Obamacare, and it's still very unpopular. But what I also see, is this - a "generic" Republican has been beating him mostly for quite a long time, although only one specific Republican has been beating him at all. Moreover - when you add the totals up, in some of those races, anywhere between 12-18 percent of respondents did not favor one over the other. A lot of ground to cover. This week it was observed that Obama is at the lowest approval rating at this point in his term in office as any President in modern history, beating Jimmy Carter. Carter got thumped in '80, but it wasn't clear he was going to lose until awfully close to November. And his term in office was terrible - and he had Iran hostages and a failed rescue attempt. I'd say that everything favors an Obama loss, but I'm not ready to count him out yet. He may well succeed in painting his Republican opponent as the devil you don't know.

Which is why I have no interest in someone on our side who can win yet will not fix anything. Let Obama continue to play golf and the GOP can run things from Capital Hill where at least there will be some conservatives.
