Looking at the pic of the exhaust nozzles, it appears the port engine was not running.

The F18 was always a deficient aircraft, as it had system failures from its very beginning, but Ronald Reagan demanding the F18 to be the next generation fighter even when the aircraft was known to be substandard and deficient.

The Reagan administration knew the aircraft was not up to par but they just ordered the Navy to fix the problems and to start using the F18 anyway.

It was an arrogant demand which the Navy could not say no to.

I suppose when an area keeps building in a crash zone for a military air base, these things are bound to happen sooner or later.
I remember when they built Tragic Hollow housing development ( aka Magic Hollow) It was right in the landing zone, so the jets would only be maybe 100ft above the homes when landing in a certain direction.
As soon as the people started moving in, they started complaining about the noise.. Dumbasses, you buy in a landing zone, expect some noise.

Sorry dude. I have been with it since the prototype got tested. Very nice plane, very few problems. Lots of them out here doing service.
