It was an arrogant demand which the Navy could not say no to.

The "is JPC a loser" poll was running neck and neck up until this point, it's taken a drastic turn since then.

They can fly on one engine. May not be able to sustain a take off on one though depending on his fuel and load out. The damaged engine may have caused other damage as well.

I use to live in the same area where that crash was off of Birdneck Road and 24th Street in the late 80's. Jets use to fly right over our apartment building almost every day. During flight ops you had to keep the TV remote in your hand to constantly adjust the volume because of the loud jet noise! I swear it seemed like we had wheel marks on our apartment roof because the jets flew so low when landing!

I was fortunate enough to live in SC when The Water is Wide came out. Pat's brother was our next door neighbor. I was 8 years old at the time and his brother told him I was an avid reader. I was presented with a signed copy from the first printing. Unfortunately, I have no idea where the book is. We've moved so much since I received that book.

I believe I have read all of his books. He does mention my Grandfather in Beach Music. Segregation was a big part of both (actually, all of our lives)

One of these days I'm going to write him a letter.

I have a feeling I'll be invited to sweet tea.

My sister is heading to Charleston on Tuesday. I'm jealous.

Go for it and let us know what happens!

I'll be jealous with you -- I just love Charleston! I've been there twice and would jump at a chance to go back again. I told hubby if we ever hit Mega- Millions, I'm buying a house in Charleston (with AC for him, and a big 'ole porch for me!).

I love SC. I want one of those waterfront homes. Nobody would like me and I don't care. Savannah GA is also a favorite. I am a Southern Gal.

I need to go back to Savannah -- was only there once for 3 days and 2 nights and it wasn't nearly enough time to explore everything! (combo trip with Charleston -- short detour to Beaufort). Loved the Riverwalk, the squares, and the East Bay Inn (where we stayed). Would go back there in a heartbeat!

(And we visited in July! Hot, hot, hot! Did get to see fireworks on the 4th in Charleston, though -- impressive!!)

Charleston is nice, but I personally do not like city living.
I make it a point to stay out of cities.
