I believe I have read all of his books. He does mention my Grandfather in Beach Music. Segregation was a big part of both (actually, all of our lives)

One of these days I'm going to write him a letter.

I have a feeling I'll be invited to sweet tea.

My sister is heading to Charleston on Tuesday. I'm jealous.
He'll probably be the one who made it too! My family and I lived in Goose Creek for five years and I lived in Savannah for nearly that long. You can really feel the south through his words can't you?

(And we visited in July! Hot, hot, hot! Did get to see fireworks on the 4th in Charleston, though -- impressive!!)
If you get back, you've got to go to Bonaventure Cemetary. It's beautiful and absolutely fascinating! Do you remember the cover on Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - the bird girl statue? That was in Bonaventure until too many tourists came through and they removed it. Gracie's there also. She's a bigger than life statue of a little girl that died and people come there and put toys around her grave.

When the pilot live then the pilot(s) can talk back and explain the reasoning for the crash, so mostly it is just when the pilot dies THEN they get the blame.

In this case the two member crew lived so this time the F18 malfunctioning will likely stand.

I just wish that a few others here would please put me on ignore.

With me on ignore you each get to be right every time, while I still get to tell everyone else the better points.

It is a win-win situation to put me on your ignore list.

If only it were that easy!!!

I know this wasn't directed to me...but...they removed the statue?

I attended Trinity Episcopal (Columbia SC) as a child. The graveyard was (and I hope still is) amazing.

I feel a roadtrip coming on.

They did - it's in the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah and I can't imagine that it possesses the same haunting feeling that I would get when I saw it in the cemetary. Savannah had a lot of wonderful cemetaries - Bonaventure was the absolute best!
